Is Swagbucks Legit?
The first question that should be addressed in any Swagbucks review is whether the company is legit.
The answer to this is certainly yes. To date, Swagbucks has paid out over $400 million to its members.
In fact, Swagbucks has an Excellent 4.3 rating on Trustpilot. Additionally, its parent company, Prodege LLC has an A rating on BBB and is an accredited business.
How Does Swagbucks Work?
Essentially, Swagbucks acts as a portal for GPT (Get Paid To) tasks. You can earn SBs or points for simple online tasks including:
- Participating in surveys
- Watching videos
- Searching the internet
- Online shopping
- Referring friends
You can exchange your SBs for gift cards or PayPal cash. Each SB is worth approximately 1 cent. So, you’ll need to accumulate 500 for a $5 reward.
Swagbucks Sign up Bonus
Swagbucks is offering $5 sign up bonus once you earn 2,500 SB within the first 60 days of membership. Bonus will be awarded within 1 day after you qualify.
Here are all 18 ways how you can earn Swagbucks points and cash with Swagbucks survey platform:
18 Ways to Earn Swagbucks Fast:
Let’s start the list with my favorite way of earning money on Swagbucks – Discover. Discover is where you will find special Swagbucks deals from retailers.
Discover can be found on Swagbucks’ home page on the left sidebar.
Discover’s categories include:
- Featured Offers
- Offers from Our Trusted Partners
- Explore Web Content and Earn
- Sign Up and Earn
- Popular Offers
- Most Recent Offers
These categories may have different names, but, in general, you have to complete one of the following activities in order to earn Swagbucks points
- Sign up for a free trial with particular service
Example: Download a particular app and connect it with your bank account to earn 500 SB!
ALERT: Swagbucks Hack
The app’s monthly fee is $2.99, but there is a 30-day free trial. So, once you install the app and connect it to your bank account, you can claim the $5 and then cancel the app account.
So, $5 for a 2 min job. Not bad!
- Sign up with a certain website, no purchase or deposit required.
Examples: Get 40 SB for signing up for a kitchen-tested recipe newsletter.
It’s 40 SB = $0.40.
Get 21 SB for installing an app, registering with it, then creating a password and confirming it.
It’s only 21 SB = $0.21, but it’s such an easy task.
- Sign up with a service and perform a certain action
Example: Earn extra cash with Airbnb! Create a new listing on Airbnb and earn 500 SB! Complete the first booking and earn 5,000 SB!
This activity works really well if you have not tried similar services before.
- Take a survey
Usually, the surveys are offered by Swagbucks’ trusted partners. If you qualify, you can complete one of these surveys for 5 SB – 44 SB.
- Play a game and reach a certain level to earn points
Example: You earn 700 SB for installing and opening the app, then creating an Epic Action Account and upgrading your Citadel to level 10.
Reaching level 10 may take all day, so you must be really into games.
- Sign up and deposit a certain amount or sign up for any level subscription
Example: You can earn 4000 SB for signing up for the dog-spoiling service BarkBox. Monthly plans start at $22.
Once you sign up for this subscription, you can cancel it after 31 days (Swagbucks does not reward you if you cancel within 30 days).
You pay $44 for two months, earn 4000 SB – $40, and enjoy the two boxes for $4.
As you can see, there are some pretty good Discover offers. The problem is, however, that not many new companies appear each day.
So, your best strategy would be to check the Swagbucks Discover section once a week. In 1 hour, you could easily earn up to 1000 SB = $10.
What else can you do?
2. Shop Online
The Shop category is where the Swagbucks platform really shines. If you shop online, then you should use Swagbucks any time you want to spend money since it is probably the quickest way to earn points on Swagbucks.
It operates differently than other coupon platforms in that, in addition to saving you money, you earn Swagbucks points.
Example: Shop at “The Home Depot” in the Home Decor category and earn 12 SB for every dollar spent.
So, every time you spend $100, you’ll get $1.20 back.
Nice! And this is just one of the many deals available.
It gets better!
Use Swagbucks together with any credit card which offers cashback, such as Chase Freedom, and you will get back an additional 3% back. However, make sure to read all the credit card’s terms & conditions since it’s possible that the small print lists some fees.
Adidas offers 10% cash back for every dollar spent on the Swagbucks platform.
I went to the Adidas homepage to see if the 10% cash back offer was for everyone and not for just for Swagbucks users. I couldn’t find any current offers apart from a 15% off discount code for signing up for their newsletter.
However, this is a one-time offer (unless you sign up with multiple email addresses), whereas with Swagbucks, you will get a discount every time.
Use the Swagbucks platform to check if there are any offers available for the store you are interested in but make sure to check the store’s page as well to see if there are any better promotions.
What if you really like to shop?
At the moment, Swagbucks is offering 50 SB for installing a Swagbucks browser extension called the SwagButton.
Simply choose your browser and add the extension by visiting one of the pages below:
So, now you have your 50 SB, and you may be wondering if this extension has any use.
Yes, it does, and a big one.
When shopping in your favorite store, you can check the extension to see if Swagbucks has any coupon deals, thus saving you the trouble of going to the Swagbucks site and entering the company name in the search bar.
Example: You want to shop at “Best Buy.” Once you are on the page, you simply press the SwagButton located on your browser, and it will show you all the current deals for Best Buy.
You can save 20% on select regularly-priced small appliances or one regularly-priced small appliance of your choice. Plus, you can activate a 4% cashback and earn up to 4 SB for every $1 you spend.
Pretty awesome, right?
I tested Swagbuttons’ coupons by choosing a random small appliance and applying the discount code provided by Swagbucks:
And it worked!
So, what else can you do?
4. Invite Friends
Swagbucks rewards you for every family member or friend you bring to the platform. At the moment, you earn 300 SB for every referral.
Plus, you receive a 100 SB bonus if they install SwagButton on their laptop or Desktop.
That’s not all! Swagbucks will also give you 10% of their SB earnings for the life of their account. In other words, if your friend earns $100 every month, you get $10.
That is called a passive income.
However, you are limited to inviting only 10 friends, so choose them wisely and make sure they will get something out of it. The steps for sharing your Referral code are: Go to this Swagbucks Invite page
Copy your referral link
Send the referral link directly to your invitee or share it via FB post or a Tweet
For an additional 100 SB, copy and send the SwagButton referral URL
Once you refer a new member, they must earn 300 SB before the 1st of the following month for both of you to receive a 300 SB bonus.
Simply share this article with your friend to show them how to earn Swagbucks points, and, in few hours, there will be an additional 300 SB in both of your accounts!
I love this section of Swagbucks!
Swagbucks offers coupons to help you save money at the grocery store and other stores in the USA only.
To be more specific, Swagbucks do not offer this feature directly. They have partnered with one of the biggest coupon websites – coupons.com.
However, using Swagbucks is even better than using Coupons.com since Swagbucks allows you to earn 25 SB for every coupon you redeem in a store.
So, are there any good coupon deals?
Plenty! Here are a few examples:
- Save $5 when you spend over $25 on Kellogg’s products.
- Save $4 when you spend over $20 on Keebler cookies.
- Save $3 when you spend over $15 on Danone products.
In addition, you get 1 SB for each coupon you print for up to a maximum of 50 coupons per day.
Once you clip the coupons, press Print Coupons, and you will be asked to confirm your phone number if you have not done so already.
Next, you will be prompted to install the Swagbucks printer driver to verify that you have printed the coupon.
Check this section every time you plan to go shopping in a physical store.
Tired of shopping?
Swagbucks is known mainly as a survey website. You can find surveys on the Swagbucks homepage under the “Answer” category.
Once you press “Start Survey,” you will be brought to the Survey page.
Every survey seems to have a qualifying section. So, first of all, you will be asked a few questions. If you qualify, you can take the survey; if not, you may get 1 SB so-called “Disqualification award” for receiving the notification that you did not qualify:
It happens, especially with surveys which offer higher earnings like 25 SB. Also, it is important to answer questions truthfully because it’s likely a check will be made to see if your answers remain consistent throughout the surveys you take.
If they aren’t consistent, then you are unlikely to qualify for many surveys. In fact, in testing this theory, as soon as I submitted different answers to the same question in two different surveys, I was kicked out of the second survey.
In short, the more you own, rent, use, travel, buy, have of various services and products, the greater the chance that you will qualify for surveys that require feedback.
Your earnings from Swagbucks surveys will depend highly on your personal circumstances. Your reward for a 10-minute survey will vary from 33 SB to 75 SB.
When I was researching the surveys, I tallied the potential rewards in the “Answer/Survey” category. In total, there were 42 surveys worth 2329 SB, which you can earn in approximately 703 minutes. I’ve broken this information down further below:
What is the average number of points you can earn for a survey? 2329 SB / 42 Surveys = 55 SB
In what period of time you can earn those 55 SB? 703 minutes / 42 Surveys = 16.7 minute
How much that would be for each hour? 60 minutes / 16.7 minutes * 55 SB = 197.6 SB. In dollars, that would be around $2 per hour.
To sum up, spend 30 minutes each day answering surveys, and you will have $30 at the end of each month to spend on Amazon.
7. Watch Videos
Next is Swag TV or Swagbucks Watch! Press on the “Watch” category on the Sidebar.
Going to the first playlist, for example, you’ll find some fashion magazine “Fashion wire” videos (if Swagbucks Watch is not working, go directly to SwagTv.
The reward is 2 SB per 30 Watched Videos from a playlist with video durations of 1 to 4 minutes.
ALERT: Swagbucks Hack
I have noticed that after 40 seconds, your videos count as watched. So, if you are active, you can quickly receive 2 SB points by skipping material after the 40 – 50 second mark.
I call it – “Swagforward!”
In an attempt to streamline the process even further, I attempted to open multiple playlists in separate tabs and let them run. However, I received a warning:
Scaling back, it seemed that 2-3 playlists playing in separate windows did not trigger the warning.
I opened 3 playlists in different windows and let them run for an hour.
As expected, after 55 videos in total, I received 6 SB points from the three playlists. Basically, it’s $0.02 for an opening a playlist.
*Note that sometimes you need to go back on the page where a video is running because it stops if it detects that you have not continued watching it.
In addition, you can watch videos on different devices, such as your mobile, laptop, desktop, and tablet, and accumulate points faster.
However, the Swagbucks FAQ page states that you can get credit only once a day for a playlist.
Well, I thought it’s not too bad if there are thousands of playlists available. Unfortunately, I was getting an error message for most of the Swag TV Categories.
I went to see what Swagbucks FAQ had to say about it, but after a few additional attempts, I was still getting error messages.
Since I was able to access only four Swag TV categories on my desktop, I could access a total of 8 videos worth 2 SB each, and 4 videos worth 1 SB each. Plus, I could access a few different videos on my mobile. The next day, I could see more videos, so some of them change on a daily basis.
In summary, you can earn up to $0.50 per day while spending only 10 minutes actually working. Pretty reasonable if you are at your computer anyway during the day and don’t mind starting a new playlist every hour, assuming they are available, of course.
If you end up using Swagbucks actively, then you will be setting yourself up to…
Swagbucks rewards you for being a member and earning swag points on their platform.

*You can find the full benefits awarded for each level on the Swagbucks member recognition program FAQ page.
9. Answer Questions
SwagIQ or Swagbucks Live is a trivia game show played every weekday in which your knowledge is tested for the opportunity to win cash prizes of $500 or even $1000.
How does SwagIQ work?
- Download the app from App Store or Google play.
- Sign in with your existing Swagbucks credentials.
- The app will when the next available trivia game starts and what the prize will be.
- During the game, you will be asked multiple-choice questions, and you will be given 10 seconds to select your answer. If you answer a question incorrectly or don’t answer within 10 seconds, you’re out.
- If you are eliminated from the game, you will receive some Swagbucks SB for the questions you answered correctly, but you must stick around until the end of the game to claim it (2 SB to 10 SB).
- You have to answer 10 questions correctly in a row to win a Grand Prize.
Here is the example of a full live game:
Let’s continue with the list! The next category, “Play,” is found on the Home page.
In general, there are two ways to earn points with games. One way is to participate in the partner games which are found under the Popular Games, Casino Games, and Cash Games categories.
If you spend money on online games, such as Casino, anyway, then it’s worth it, because you earn points for free. For example, for every $1 spent, you may receive 4 to 12 SB.
The other way to earn money while playing games is with Swagbucks Games.
There are 3 games in total, and you can earn 10 SB with each of them. I started with “Swagasaurus Run.”
The game is very simple, and you jump by clicking the mouse button or pressing space once you see an obstacle. Also, you have only one life. The first time I played, I lost the game after 30 seconds and received 2 SB.
So, I played again.
This time I lost the game after 60 seconds and received no points…
So, I played again. After 44 seconds, I received 2 SB. The next time, I received 2 SB after 51 seconds.
I was getting better!
Then, after 55 seconds, I received nothing. Next, after 22 seconds, I received 2 SB again.
Funnily enough, after 3 seconds I received 2 SB again. By that time, I had received 10 points in total, which means that I had reached the limit.
Just to be sure, I played a few more times. And yes, during the next 5 times, even though I reached my best time of 84 seconds, I received nothing.
Next, I tried the second game, but, after playing it for 20 minutes, I had not earned a single SB. Turns out there is a limit as to how many SB you can earn in one day (10).
My advice is to play these games for 10-15 minutes every day for a year. Then you will pocket 3650 SB or a $36.5 gift card!
Once you are done playing for the day, you can turn to the next item on the list.
11. Search Online
The Swagbucks search engine is found at the very top of the home page.
The idea is that instead of Google, you use Swagbucks and earn some points while doing it. The official Swagbucks explanation goes like this:
It’s worth mentioning that Swagbucks uses Yahoo search engine results.
According to Swagbucks, search engine rewards are random and allow you to earn between 1 and 1000 points. Give it a try!
Example: I searched for “make money online with DollarBreak”
Wait a minute, this was the first time that I had used the search bar! I tried a few different browsers, some other terms, logged out and logged back in to the account, but the results were the same…
The other day, I tried another search and it worked, but then I tried another one and it didn’t work…
Finally, I figured out that once you search for something, you must go to one of the search result websites. Then Swagbucks believes that you are completing genuine searches.
Voilà! After a few searches, I had earned 20 SB.
In addition, you may want to add a Swagbucks search extension to your browser and make it your default search engine to increase your chances of earning more SB (about 5 SB for every 20-50 searches).
So, you have played and searched. What more can you do?
On the Swagbucks home page and along the left-hand sidebar, you will find your “To-Do List.”
There are 8 steps to take which will earn you SB every day. Complete any 6 of the 8 items on your to-do list and you’ll receive a 1- 4 SB bonus pay-out.
Example: You can earn 1 SB from the Daily Poll.
All you have to do is to select an answer to the question and press “Vote & Earn 1 SB.”
Then 1 SB will drop into your account.
Complete all 8 tasks on your to-do list, and you’ll receive an extra 2-4 SB bonus every day!
Swagbucks automatically sets your daily goal in terms of how many points you should earn each day. Any time you achieve it, you’ll receive bonus points.
Your daily goal is found on the Swagbucks home page next to the search bar. It will list both your target SB and what the bonus will be if you earn that much.
At one point, my goal was 40 SB for 3 bonus points.
However, when I reached my 40-point goal in a single day, my goal was stretched to 112 SB for 9 bonus points.
In addition, you receive extra SB if you achieve your goals consistently for a certain number of days. Here’s how it works:
There are 4 levels in “My Winning Strokes.” You can see them once you click on Daily Goals tab.
So, every time you achieve a certain level, you earn SB.
I will give you an example using my goal of 40 SB and 3 bonus points because it’s easy to achieve.
Let’s say you achieved the goal consistently for 30 days in a row.
Here is the number of bonus points you would receive:
- Daily bonus – 3 SB x 30 days = 90 SB
- 7 Day Star – 25 SB
- 14 Day Fanatic – 100 SB
- 21 Day Triumph – 200 SB
- Monthly Master – 300 SB
Total: 715 SB
In gift card form, that’s over $7. However, bear in mind that you have also earned regular points during this period.
In this example, you earned 40 SB every day for 30 days, which amounts to 1200 SB or $12. Overall, you have earned around $20 in one month by achieving a daily goal of 40 SB.
Is it achievable?
Let’s do the math. I will use the lowest earnings from the items we’ve gone over so far:
- Daily Poll – 1 SB
- Play free Swagbucks Game – 10 SB
- Use the Swagbucks Search Engine – 5 SB
- Swagbucks Watch – 20 SB
- Swagbucks Surveys – 4 SB (just for 4 failed surveys)
That’s 40 SB!
In addition, at the end of each month, you can be awarded extra bonus points for participating in the Daily Goal program. One of the Swagbucks deals that is worth looking into.

14. Find Bonus Points
Swagbucks occasionally shares bonus codes via the:
They usually accompany an offer from one of the Swagbucks partners. Below the offer, you should see a SWAG CODE ALERT with the code. Also, they have a time limit so you need to redeem them rapidly.
Here is the example from UK Swagbucks, but the principle is the same across all countries’ platforms.
Simply enter the code in the Swag Code box on the Swagbucks home page and press Redeem.
ALERT: Swagbucks Hack
Waiting and looking for Swag codes to show up on the Swagbucks platforms takes time, but there is a shortcut. There are people who do that job for you and share the results on their websites.
In other words, they will find the offers and let you know the details. Here are some pages to follow:
The deals pop up almost every day, and you can earn 2 SB – 5 SB each time. Just follow the instructions!
Swagbucks offers another unique way of earning money on Swagbucks: simply checking the Swagbucks Inbox daily.
The Swagbucks Inbox is found on the Swagbucks homepage in the top right corner.
Here, you will find notifications of deals available currently. You can filter them via the category of your choice.
What you are looking here is a deal like this:
With a simple click, 2 SB lands in your account.
Offers like this come once every few days. Other offers mainly offer some kind of discount, cashback or another way to save you some money. I received over 60 offers in one week.
You can adjust what Swagbucks offers you want to receive via the Notifications tab under “My Settings” in “My Account”:
In general, the Swagbucks Inbox saves you time. Instead of checking all new offers in all the categories, you can simply check the inbox in the same way you check your regular one once a day.
16. Try Your Luck
On the Swagbucks homepage’s left bar you will find “Sweepstakes.”
What is Sweepstakes? To put it simply, it’s a lottery.
In general, you pay a specified SB and enter a drawing for some prizes. For example, you can pay 2 SB to enter a 25,000 SB giveaway, and some offers allow you to purchase multiple tickets or entries.
Sweepstakes on Reddit you’ll find the stories of people who have won. Maybe you’ll join them!
This one is straightforward. You get 55 SB on your birthday.
However, those points do not go straight into your account. You can claim them when you cash in for a gift card within 30 days of your birthday.
Example: You want to exchange SB for an Amazon $10 gift card Normally, you would need 1000 SB, but, with the birthday bonus, it will cost you 945 SB.
Swagbucks will send you an email with the URL to redeem the points.
Have you worked hard and earned some points that you now want to exchange for a gift card instead of transferring cash directly to your PayPal account?
Great! This section is for you.
You can access the gift cards directly via this Swagbucks Rewards link. The interesting thing is that you can obtain gift cards at a discount rate.
Example: At the time of this review, the $25 Amazon and Walmart gift cards were 12% off.
So, earn points daily on Swagbucks and enjoy even discounted gift cards!
How to Download Swagbucks App?
You will be able to perform all the things described in this review on your mobile device.
How to Contact Swagbucks Support?
If you need help or if you have any questions about any offer, simply create a support ticket on the Swagbucks support page.
Swagbucks says that you should typically receive a reply within 10 business days, but, based on my experience, it takes a few days at most.
ALERT: Swagbucks Hack
I wanted to sign up for an offer on Discover page. It happened to be from “Livedrive,” which is similar to Google Drive, and offered back up for media and files for 300 SB.
I needed to Sign Up for a FREE trial for the points to be transferred to my Swagbucks account. Unfortunately, once clicked, the offer just brought me to the Google homepage. I tried signing up with a few different browsers, but the results were the same.
Time to evaluate Swagbucks customer service. I sent them an email. Guess what? Within the next 2 hours I received a response:
” Hi Tomas,
Thank you for writing in. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. I have gone ahead and credited you for this. If I can help you again in the future, please let me know by submitting a new ticket. Have a great day and week ahead “
How about that? Five stars for customer service! Send them an email every time something does not work, and you could receive SB.
Is Swagbucks Worth the Effort?
Swagbucks isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme, but it is a great addition to incorporate into your daily life.
Don’t forget to use it every time you shop online, find deals in the Discover category, and recommend Swagbucks to all your friends. Then you will easily earn a few gift cards each month.
At the end of the day, these are the things you do online anyway, but Swagbucks is a safe and legit way which simply allows you to get some money back while doing them.
However, if you are looking for higher-earning opportunities online, consider these guides:
Swagbucks vs PrizeRebel
Like Swagbucks, PrizeRebel offers a variety of ways to earn cash. This includes participating in surveys, watching videos, referring friends and more.
Another similarity is that PrizeRebel has a low minimum payout of just $2. So, if you like using Swagbucks, it is worth signing up for PrizeRebel too.
Swagbucks vs Survey Junkie
The main difference between these two platforms is that Survey Junkie has a sole focus on surveys. There are no additional tasks to boost your income.
Additionally, Survey Junkie has a minimum payout of $10.
Swagbucks vs InboxDollars
Both Swagbucks and InboxDollars have their potential downsides and merits. The most obvious difference is that InboxDollars doesn’t use a points system. This means that the company displays a dollar amount for each task.
Plus, the surveys are typically worth less than $0.50, which can make it difficult to reach the minimum payout of $30.
