What is ReceiptPal?

Cash back apps are nothing new, but in this ReceiptPal review, I’ll explain how this platform is different. ReceiptPal is a scan receipts app for money, so you can get paid to upload receipts. You may wonder why reward apps like ReceiptPal pay you just for sharing your receipts and the answer is market research.

Companies need to know data about consumer spending habits to determine their target audience and develop new products or services. Their marketing teams can analyze uploaded receipts to work out how the typical consumer spends their money.

How ReceiptPal Works

The ReceiptPal platform is simple to use. There is an app for iOS and Android devices and once you install the app, you can immediately start earning rewards.

Whenever you shop, you just need to take a picture of your receipt through the ReceiptPal app. You’ll receive points each time you submit receipts. Of course, you need to ensure that the receipt is complete and in focus, or you won’t receive a points credit.

Typically, the company approves receipts within 72 hours, so you’ll quickly receive your points. You can then use these points to get gift cards

What Kinds of Receipts Does ReceiptPal Accept?

ReceiptPal allows you to submit receipts from practically any stores where you make a purchase. This includes:

  • Retail stores
  • Pharmacies
  • Restaurants
  • Convenience stores
  • Gas Stations
  • Clothing Stores

You can even submit a receipt from a car dealership.

The receipts need to be for purchases in your household and the receipt needs to include:

  • The purchase date,
  • Name of the store
  • Store phone number or zip code
  • Total purchase amount

You need to submit your receipt within 10 days of your purchase and only receipts paid in US dollars and in English are acceptable. Currently, only store locations in the US, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico or Guam qualify.

You can also earn ReceiptPal points for your online purchases. You can connect your email address and your Amazon account during sign up.

What Receipts Are Not Acceptable?

Unfortunately, there can be misunderstandings when using cash back apps like ReceiptPal. So, it is important to understand what receipts are not acceptable. These include:

  • Business or company purchases
  • $0 purchase value receipts
  • Receipts for returned items
  • Lottery tickets
  • Receipts missing store name, price or purchase date
  • Purchases for third party payment processors such as PayPal or Groupon
  • Screenshots
  • Blurry images

How to Sign Up for ReceiptPal

The ReceiptPal app is available for iOS and Android devices. So, you’ll need to download the app from the appropriate app store. To complete the sign up process you’ll need to provide:

  • A valid email address
  • Your date of birth
  • Gender
  • Other basic household information for demographic purposes.

Once you complete the account creation, you can start using the app to earn rewards. The home screen details your points, current rewards value, account history and any notifications.

Are There Other Ways to Earn With ReceiptPal?

Unlike many cash back apps, ReceiptPal offers other ways that you can earn rewards. These include:

Sweepstakes:

Each time you submit eligible receipts, you earn an entry into sweepstake draws for a grand prize of $250. The draws occur three times per week. You can also receive bonus sweepstake entries for various promotions.

Bonus Games:

You can receive as many as five bonus games per week. These will appear on your receipts tab. Bonus games offer prizes such as extra sweepstake entries or additional points.

The games provide on screen instructions, you’ll need to follow. This is a fun add on to help you boost your points balance.

Referrals:

Periodically, ReceiptPal operates a referral program. This is open to active members with a validated email. Once the program is open, you can tap “Refer a Friend” within the Account tab. This will then guide you through the referral process including initiating an invite with your unique ReceiptPal referral code.

You’ll earn points for each referral that connects their email for receipt auto collection. There is the potential to earn up to 25 referrals per month. Unfortunately, ReceiptPal does not specify how many points you can earn per referral.

How Much Can I Earn with ReceiptPal?

After you join ReceiptPal, you’ll receive five points cards, with each one giving you the chance to earn up to 100 points. Each week after this, you’ll have three points cards that are worth 100 points each.

Every four receipts earns you 100 points. So, on a typical week, there is the potential to earn a maximum 300 points with 12 receipts. If you have more than 12 receipts in any given week, you won’t earn any points for them, but you will receive more sweepstake entries.

As long as you remain an active ReceiptPal member, your points will not expire. So, if you only submit one or two receipts each week, you can still work towards earning rewards. However, if you don’t submit a receipt for 90 days, your points balance resets to zero and you lose any accumulated points.

How to Redeem ReceiptPal Points

You can exchange your points for gift cards and other rewards. Generally, it takes 350 points to earn a $1 gift card. This works out at 14 receipts for each $1.

To redeem your ReceiptPal points click on the Rewards Tab in the app. There are three levels of rewards:

  • $5: 2,200+ points
  • $10-$25: 4,000+ points
  • $50-$100: 17,250+ points

The choice of gift card options includes popular retailers such as:

Alternatives to ReceiptPal

Of course, ReceiptPal is not unique and there are alternative platforms if you are not happy with the ReceiptPal review comments. These include:

ReceiptPal vs Receipt Hog:

Like ReceiptPal, Receipt Hog is a scan receipts app. You will still need to scan receipts to accumulate rewards. However, the key difference is how you earn those rewards.

While ReceiptPal rewards you for the number of receipts you scan, Receipt Hog calculates points on how much you spend. So, you can maximize your rewards by spending a lot of money on one receipt.

ReceiptPal FAQ

What if my Receipt is very long?

If you have done a big grocery store run, you may have a really long receipt that you may struggle to scan. One ReceiptPal hack is to take a higher aerial picture of the receipt.

Unfortunately, ReceiptPal does not accept partial close up images of receipts. So, it is a good idea to put your receipt on the floor and stand up to take the picture. Just be sure to check it is still legible before submitting.

What if a Receipt gets rejected?

If ReceiptPal rejects a receipt, you’ll receive a notification. You can then submit a dispute within 21 days of the original submission. ReceiptPal will check the situation and issue guidance on how to proceed.

Since rejection is a possibility, it is a good idea to keep hold of all your receipts until you see a credit for the points on your receipt. You may need to resubmit a receipt during dispute resolution.
