Cars Accepted

kbb vs wheelzy cars accepted

KBB can purchase cars in most conditions. However, the following vehicles are not accepted by the company:

  • At least 24 years old
  • With over 300,000 miles on the odometer
  • Auctioned within the last 45 days
  • For commercial use
  • Subject for recall

On the other hand, Wheelzy accepts any vehicle in all kinds of conditions. These include used, wrecked, and junk cars. You can also sell the following vehicles to Wheelzy:

  • Company cars
  • With outdated registration
  • With missing parts, as long as the engine and transmission are intact
  • 1981 or newer models

Fees

Both KBB and Wheelzy don’t charge any fees. By that, you can use their services for free, including accessing their websites to get an instant cash offer, connecting with their customer service teams, and setting up a drop-off or pick-up schedule.

Requesting Quotes

kbb vs wheelzy requesting quotes

With KBB, you can request a quote through an online form on its website:

  1. Simply navigate to the Instant Cash Offer page through the Car Values tab at the top of the home page.
  2. Then, enter your 17-digit VIN or License Plate Number on the indicated field and click on Go.
  3. From there, you’ll see the webpage where you can enter your vehicle’s mileage, along with other details such as color, features, and equipment.

You’ll also need to provide information on your vehicle’s condition and modification as these may affect the offer. Finally, you’ll need to provide your phone number and email. KBB will contact you through these for the offer.

The website will also prompt you to set up an account on the platform so you can monitor your instant cash offer progress.

Wheelzy, meanwhile, offers two ways to request a quote. Through their website, you can initiate a quote request by providing your vehicle’s make, model, and year. You’ll also need to enter your zip code and phone number. Then, click on Get Offer.

Wheelzy will contact you by phone for the instant offer. Besides the online application, you can call Wheelzy by phone at (855) 294-0940 to talk to their sales team. During the call, you’ll receive the offer and you can accept it right away.

Offer Validity

The instant offer from KBB is valid for 7 days or additional 50 miles, whichever comes first. Meanwhile, Wheelzy didn’t specify their offer validity. Instead, their website states that the offer is available for as long as they can keep them available.

Payments Offered

You can sell your vehicle for cash to either KBB or Wheelzy. However, only KBB offers the trade-in option if you’re looking to upgrade your car.

As for the payment method, KBB only pays in checks. Wheelzy pays in either cash or check, depending on their partner tow service that will pick up your vehicle. You can confirm the available payment method when you set up the pick-up schedule.

Payout

KBB pays out checks within the same day you finalize the sale with them. Similarly, Wheelzy will hand you the payment before they take your car away.

Car Pick-up

Between the two companies, only Wheelzy offers a free pick-up option. You can arrange for this service when you accept the instant offer.

Suppose you have some schedule issues that can make the pick-up time challenging. In that case, you can contact their support team to work on a pick-up time that works best for you.

Physical Locations

Only KBB offers a drop-off option through their physical locations in the country. KBB provides you with a list of participating dealers once you accept their offer. You can choose one from the list and bring your car there to claim the instant offer.

Turnaround Time

For both companies, it can take around 48 hours to complete a sale. Just note that with Wheelzy, the pickup time depends on your, and in some cases, the tow services’ available schedules.

Customer Service

KBB lets customers contact their customer service through the following:

  • Online form
  • Email: instantcashoffer@kbb.com
  • Phone: (866) 559-5268

The KBB customer service hotline is open every Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM, and every Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM ET.

Meanwhile, Wheelzy has customer service channels through their social media accounts, Facebook and Twitter, and a hotline (855) 294-0940.

Customers are happy with how fast selling to Wheelzy is. Some even claimed that they were able to sell their cars the next day after requesting an online quote. Additionally, customers liked that they received the promised amount in cash.

Others, however, lamented about not getting paid more than they expected.  Few customers had issues about not receiving the same amount as the guaranteed offer.

Reviews on KBB show how car sellers are happy with their customer service and sales team. A customer even mentioned a KBB representative personally went to their location to make the offer.

However, other customers felt that they should have received more money for their vehicles. Others also had complaints with KBB paying them lower than the instant offer they received. Although, KBB clarified that the amount may change after inspection.
