Rember, you will be charged a $39 service fee and a further $30 Fast Track fee to enable you to receive your new title within 72 hours as opposed to the normal 10 to 14 days.
Both parties must fill in relevant fields on the back of the title. The sections that should be completed include;
- Legal names of both the seller and buyer
- Address and signature of the buyer
- Signature and address of the seller
- Date of sale
- Odometer reading
- Purchase price
Accurately filling out information on the title will make it easy for the buyer to apply for a new plate or complete the transfer process. In addition, if the title is co-owned, all parties must sign the documents to authenticate it.
Strictly follow the process outlined in the Transfer of title when gifting your car to a relative. Mississippi laws also require that you fill out and submit an Affidavit of relationship and submit it along with the title at your local county office for approval.
Inheriting Car From Parent or Relatives
The process above also applies if you want to inherit a car from your parents or relatives. However, you must complete and file inheritance documents and submit them to your local county office along with the vehicle title to be transferred.
If you want to register a vehicle from another state and it does not have title, Mississippi motor laws recommend that you provide a Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin.
Step 7: Remove Plates
